UrbanSexyChic is a lifestyle brand for the everyday authentic individual that exudes strength, confidence, and perseverance. The goal is to embody you with an experience and/or personal style in a space of tranquility, peace, and self-acceptance.
My Story
One of my proudest moments was opening the doors of my boutique Iklektikk in 2008. Initial plans were to later add a salon inside boutique to provide a one stop destination space for women to be pampered and shop all things beauty and fashion. However, that vision took a few twists and turns.
As a southern girl (cue Frankie Beverly & Maze) I found solace “dressing up” in my mother’s closet as escape from my tough upbringing. As I grew into an adult piecing together an outfit, styling hair and getting freshly manicured nails it made me feel great. The compliments I received on my personal style not only brought a modest smile to my face but boosted my confidence. My 'eye' quickly became a go-to resource for personal style advice among friends, who encouraged me to filter my passion and open a shop.
Determined to learn more about the beauty industry while operating my boutique, I took an early retirement after working 15 years from the automotive industry. I immediately enrolled at Aveda Douglas J. Institute and within 2 years became a licensed cosmetologist. However, after graduating, a shifting economy forced me to close my boutique’s doors, though my website stayed active. No stranger to hard work I rolled up my sleeves, put the site on pause and continued my journey rebuilding from the ground up. It wasn’t easy, and there were a few setbacks, but through it all, I discovered my niche and passion within the beauty industry is nail care. Loving natural nail care and its artistry I started working as a manicurist for several salons but found myself frustrated with being undervalued by salon owners who lacked understanding of the industry. As a “hands-on entrepreneur” I recognized the demand for professional quality services and the shortage of reliable, licensed manicurists. Fueled by faith along with meticulous planning I decided it was time for me to become once again independent and merge both passions.
Fashion, beauty, and style are art. Each represents a personal choice in how we portray ourselves individually. The gratitude I feel when others compliment me and my sense of style motivates me to pass along that same positivity in return. If I can make you feel and look your best by providing extraordinary services, merchandise, a vibe, or a mood, then I have fed my soul, and together, we have complimented and inspired one another
